Profile
- Electronic parts that keep interfering radio waves (noise) from getting out.
- The noise filter uses power from the inductor and capacitor.
- Noise filters are also sometimes called “EMI suppression filters”.
The Power of Noise Filters
We make your life easier!
Radio waves come mixed with interfering waves called “noise”. Smartphones, video game consoles, and Wi-Fi™ would all drop connections suddenly if that noise got through!
That’s why they use noise filters to separate the two.
The Secret of the Power of Noise Filters
There are two types of noise filters!
Noise filters can be either inductors or capacitors. These two types remove noise in different ways.
Inductors absorb only the noise from radio waves, and capacitors direct noise into its own circuit (the ground).
By the way... combining an inductor with a capacitor makes for an even better noise filter.
Friends of Noise Filters
Chip Ferrite Beads
They’re used in all sorts of places because they’re so small.
Common Mode Choke Coils
Stops the noise when plugging in the power or sending audio.
Block Type EMI Suppression Filters
One filter can block many different types of noises.
Trivia
What are the units?
The unit of impedance is Ω (ohms). A higher number of ohms means noise has more trouble getting through.
QUESTION
The first is nose, and the second is a maze!
